Day 134

St. Jude’s FC A new and exciting soccer program has arrived at SJA. St. Jude’s FC is the official soccer academy affiliated with SJA, which is currently taking applicants for its inaugural season. St. Jude's FC will be playing against the best REP teams around the area. Do not miss the opportunity to sign your child up to not only play against the best, but be coached by the best as well.  Please see flyer sent home for further information. If you are interested in joining, please fill out the flyer and send into Ms. Dawn. Let’s go St. Jude’s FC!!







A note from Ms. Bancud: You are now able to order for May Lunches. The deadline for May lunches is Saturday, April 28th, 2018.  After this date, our system closes and is unable to open for April ordering.  Please make sure your child is under the correct grade. http://mydigitalmailroom.com/sja  
All payments are due on Friday, May 4th, 2018.






Arts' Night Update!

We are asking students to bring in 2 photos
1 of them as a baby/toddler  and 1 of them from today
Please send in the agenda by end of next week
We are excited to let you know that our Arts' Night performances this year will be held at The City Church auditorium located on Argentina road, just a 3 minute drive from the school. With this new venue, we have extra lighting, surround sound, a larger and higher stage, more seating, and much more! This will give you and your family





A note from Alexis, Alex, and Wael about their Grade 6 Exhibition project on Child Neglect - Dear parents/ guardians,

We are Grade 6 students doing a project called exhibition. Our topic is child neglect. For our action we chose to do a clothing donation for the children that may have experienced neglect in our community. We will be donating all of the gently used clothing to the CAS and local charities. If you would like to donate any gently used clothing please place them in the box labeled Clothing Donations for the CAS and surrounding charities. It can be found by the SJA side door where you come into the school in the morning. The last day to make a donation is Wednesday, April 25.

Thursday, April 26 – Spring Fundraiser trip to Kidsport for those students who raise a minimum of $35


Calendar- the special helpers put up the date, counts down to 100 days of school, and tells us what the weather is like today.
Agenda Read 15 minutes, spelling sentences, spelling test Friday, Kidsport trip tomorrow (for those who raised $35), gym uniform tomorrow

UOI with language focus- Students received their weekly spelling words and completed activities from their spelling workout books.



Math- Today students were introduced to measuring area. They found the perimeter and area of different rectangles. Students used standard and non-standard units of measurement to measure the area of different objects.






Unit of Inquiry- Students started their summative assessment. They gained knowledge to what a totem pole is and what it represents. Students started creating their own totem pole using at least 3 symbols to represent their home country or background.

Agenda Read 15 minutes a day, practice song and dance for Arts' Night, get spelling test signed, research animals and sculptures from home country or background to get ideas for totem pole (students should know the what they will be creating and what materials they will be using for Monday)
UOI with language focus- Today we wrote a letter as a class to the lunch staff thanking them for all their hard work.

Math- Students measured different sized lines in centimeters. They also found the perimeter of rectangles.
